Intel tests chip design with 80-core processor

Have after their march from standard processors to dual-core and quad-core designs in 2006, Intel Corp. researchers, an 80-core chip, which carries more than one trillion floating point operations per second (TFLOPS) and fewer Electricity as an integrated modern desktop PC chip. First described by Intel executives at a September trade show, the chip fits 80 cores on a 275-square-millimeter, fingernail-size chip and draws only 62 watts of power - less than many modern desktop chips ....

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160 - Overclocking Wonder

The processor wars are really sizzling these days and the recent spate of price cuts from Intel and AMD end of July 2007, many people have pointed out DIY, sent to their new processor and motherboard upgrades bring. With up to 50% price cut, which could resist?

AMD's move is simply a price adjustment to a competitive lineup to hold that against Intel's current onslaught till the much awaited Athlon X4 series which hopefully will provide natural lightYear during the holiday season. On the other hand, Intel refreshed their entire mid-to high-end processor lineup with CPU cores of newer stepping, faster FSB operation and new processor model names to these incremental changes along with reflect the new price tags. For many enthusiasts, who are now all too familiar with the benefits of Intel's Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad series, this is quite a breeze on their platform ofChoice. AMD is of course still in the race and had had a slight market share increase as of late. One of the reasons is of course the price advantage of the AMD platform, which is always a little cheaper than Intel's and together with the competitive CPU prices, AMD has a proper solution for the mainstream and budget market.

Among all these, AMD has launched more power efficient entry dual-core processors just before the Computex 2007 in theGuise of the BE-2xxx series. AMD's marketing and the online community quickly lapped up the power efficient angle of these processors, but realistically, they offered little advantage over the competition test in our laboratory. This is because Intel already has a new range of processors like the Pentium Dual-Core series, which replaces the aging Pentium D lineup and are priced well known, established with the head on AMD BE-2xxx series to life. The Pentium Dual-Core series isnothing more than a 1MB L2 cache version of the Core 2 Duo series, and as such, Intel's "offerings fared equally well if not better than AMD processors with similar power consumption as shown in a previous article. It is still a mystery why Intel could not just on the famous Core 2 Duo nomenclature will benefit as the old Pentium classification. On a side note, even the Celeron series still lives, though the new 4xx models inthe market are also based on the Core architecture. These are however uni-core processors like the Athlon they face-off. So Intel's processor lineup has finally completely shifted to the Core architecture.

The humble entry-level dual-core Pentium Dual-Core E2160 processor may sport very tame data, but it is really a processing powerhouse in disguise as we are that you will soon show

The Pentium Dual-CoreProcessors are currently available in two versions, the E2140 (1.6 GHz) and E2160 (1.8 GHz) with a third 2GHz iteration coming out very soon. These processors use the same Allendale cores, which are characterized by the 2 MB of L2 cache Core 2 Duo E4000 series, but only half the working cache (1MB). As such, the Pentium dual-core series share all the same features and specifications as well.
